Dixie had a special place in her heart for my daughter, Shante' Nicole who I adopted 31 years ago. Dixie touched my daughter's heart as she asked Shante' to serve on the Junior Advisory Board for the Adoption Exchange, asked her to speak at a national conference as an adoptee, asked her to speak at a fundraiser, included Shante's story in her book, and was responsible for Shante and I being featured on 60 Minutes in 1999 to address adoption parties. Thank you, Dixie for touching our family and many more families! You are sorely missed!!

I was "roped" into working with Dixie and The Adoption Exchange through my company. The opportunity, leadership and passion for adoption Dixie provided was wonderful. Her insights taught me much and I'll miss her.

As Dixieโ€™s sister I have always been proud of all Dixieโ€™s accomplishments I and how much she did, and got done, for so many children and families. And then when we were together she was so unassuming and just my sister and friend . There were two games we always played together: Perquacky and Words With Friends. I miss her so much! She has left a big hole in my life and an ache in my heart. Lovingly, her sis Patsy

As a young woman starting her career back in 2003, I couldnโ€™t have asked for a better role model than Dixie. Her love of the children, commitment to collaboration and innovation, her willingness to lead and teach, her ongoing support and encouragementโ€ฆshe was one of a kind and affected so many more lives than those she set out to!

I am so sorry I cant be there in person but my thoughts are there with everyone - Dixie was a special person and I knew her as a friend, a peer, as a fellow Rotary Club member and as the passionate warrior she was as an advocate for young people who were need of a stable, loving home!
My heart goes out to Bert, the young people who found homes/ familyand the many friends
who loved her!

When I first met Dixie, I had no idea what were were going to do and the greatness that was to accompany our efforts for the children. She was a leader extraordinaire that took a dream and led us to accomplish it. The fun we had at the channel 4 telethons, the events with the Beach Boys and Disney are things never to forget. Lots of children were adopted. I will never forget you Dixie.

Dixie was a joy to work with, a truly gifted leader, inspirational, compassionate with a heart for children and the ability to make things better for families and children. She is truly missed but her memory and service live on.

Itโ€™s always sad when we loose such a fine person as Dixie.
She had such energy and kindness and compassion
I wonder what might have happened to all those children served by the Adoption Exchange if she had not founded this organization
We should all strive to be like her
We love you Dixie

It has been an honor to have known you and to have had you as a loving and caring stepmom, I will always remember the fun vacations and trips we have made, and you were also the first one who gave me some driving lessons in your lexus when I was sixteen.

I will miss you Dixie

Love Roger

What an amazing woman! Her skills, in so many areas, are numerous! She was a wonderful speaker, advocate, leader and trainer! She was one of my mentors when I first came to the States and I will always remember her kindness. Thank you
